  • We're Back!  Welcome!  It's been a while, but the Metro Alumni Website is back on line . . .

The good news is that everything's still here: The Picture Archives, Message Boards, etc.  The bad news is that nothing has been updated in quite a while.  I'll get around to doing some updates and cleaning-up soon, as time allows -- but if any of you have experience in Expression Web or FrontPage and would like to help, that would be great!  In the meantime, enjoy looking back at Metro.  If you'd like to leave messages on the boards, remember that you'll need a password which will be supplied upon request at hostmaster@metroalumni.org.  (You don't need a password to view messages.)  Sorry for the down time -- things happen.  And, if you get a chance, look me up on Facebook . . .  Steve Hinchcliff, 1974.

30th Anniversary

Welcome to the home of the Metro High School Alumni Association!

During the planning process undertaken by the Planning Committee, a loosely formed group that gathered to work on the Metro H.S. 30th Anniversary Celebration, it was determined that a standing committee of Metro Alumni would be beneficial for future efforts in maintaining communication between all Metroites.  A number of people from the Planning Committee have volunteered to become an initial part of this effort.

The goal of the Alumni Association will be to serve as an on-going resource available to all Metroites in the following ways:

bullet Maintain information on the whereabouts of Metroites.
bullet Contact Metroites with information regarding Metro news and happenings of interest to them.
bullet Provide contact information to other Metro groups, such as Reunion Committees, etc.  (Any such information will only be provided if the Metroite has expressly given his or her permission to do so.)
bullet Maintain an archive of historical information with respect to Metro High School.
bullet Foster on-going communication between all Metroites -- past, present and future.

An important tool to be utilized toward accomplishing these goals is the Metro High School Alumni Website (http://www.metroalumni.org.)  It is our hope that you will visit this site often (we'll try to make it entertaining and fun to do so), and that you will pass this address along to any Metroites you see.

There is much work to do -- especially as we begin this process.  We need volunteers to join the Association, and work in the following areas:

bullet Create a "Master List" of all Metroites -- attendees, graduates, faculty and staff.
bullet Collect historical materials such as Yearbooks, photographs, programs, etc. for use in creating the list, and for archival safekeeping.
bullet Perform research necessary to "find" Metroites, and contact them to make them aware of the group and the Website.
bullet Become a liaison between the Association and Metro High School administration.
bullet Become an archivist for the information we retrieve, and become the "Metro Answer Person" available to answer Metroites questions.
bullet Write articles for the Website.
bullet Help with the maintenance of the Website.
bullet Moderate discussion groups for the various classes, each of which will eventually get its own space on metroalumni.org.

If you would like to participate in this on-going effort, please send Email to committee@metroalumni.org and let us know how you'd like to help.  Also, please Email your questions, thoughts, comments and suggestions to the same address.
