Please check the Breaking News section for information regarding the new Email Directory and Photograph Archives, and other developments (including a new Metro Times article!)

  • We're Back!  Welcome!  It's been a while, but the Metro Alumni Website is back on line . . .

The good news is that everything's still here: The Picture Archives, Message Boards, etc.  The bad news is that nothing has been updated in quite a while.  I'll get around to doing some updates and cleaning-up soon, as time allows -- but if any of you have experience in Expression Web or FrontPage and would like to help, that would be great!  In the meantime, enjoy looking back at Metro.  If you'd like to leave messages on the boards, remember that you'll need a password which will be supplied upon request at hostmaster@metroalumni.org.  (You don't need a password to view messages.)  Sorry for the down time -- things happen.  And, if you get a chance, look me up on Facebook . . .  Steve Hinchcliff, 1974.

Welcome to the Metro Photograph Archive!  This section is currently "under construction", but it already contains over 300 photographs for you to view and download.

We are adding to the Photograph Archive daily, so you'll want to check often for new pictures.  When this section is complete, there will be literally thousands of Metro photographs available to you on line.  We wish to thank Metro Academic and Classical High School, Rose Williams, Betty Wheeler and Dr. Pam Randall for making the initial set of photographs available to metroalumni.org.

We also want your photographs.  Send your photos (preferably in .gif or .jpg format) along with a description of the subject and people in it to hostmaster@metroalumni.org.

We didn't want to make everyone wait until we completed the design and layout of this section to share these pictures -- we wanted to get these pictures out as quickly as possible.  But, until this section is completed, please note the following:

bullet The photographs are not in any meaningful order, either chronologically or by subject.  (As the photographs are identified, we will begin to sort them both by subject and by the time frame they represent.)
bullet In order to maintain the best possible quality (for archival purposes, and for those who may wish to print from them), the photographs have not been optimized for delivery over the Internet.  Some of them are quite large, and you may not be able to view them within a reasonable amount of time without a high-speed Internet connection such as DSL, ISDN, etc.
bullet There are no descriptions of the photographs.  In many cases we don't yet know who or what is in them -- and that's where we need your help!  If you know the details or circumstances of a photo, when it was taken or who is in it, please send an Email to hostmaster@metroalumni.org with the name of the photo and the details.  We'll get the information into the directory, and get it posted with the photo.
bullet Although many of these photographs belong to the St. Louis Board of Education and Metro Academic and Classical High School, we were not informed of any restrictions they wished to have in place with respect to your downloading any of the photographs.  Unless, at some future time, we are informed otherwise, you may feel free to download any of the pictures for your personal collection.

Have fun looking at the photographs, and please don't forget to Email hostmaster@metroalumni.org if you can help to identify any of them.
